H.E Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, will lead a delegation to attend the 14h ASEM Foreign Ministers Meeting (ASEM FMM14), to be held in Madrid, Spain, on Dec. 15-16, 2019.
Under the theme "Asia and Europe � together for effective multilateralism, the ASEM FMM14 will deliberate and explore ways to revitalise the multilateral system as well as to build sustainable connectivity for the benefits of the two continents.
Within the ASEM FMM14 plenary session, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn will deliver a substantive remark focusing on gender equality and the role of women in peace and security, particularly in the United Nations Peacekeeping Operations (UNPKO). He will also attend a working lunch formatted in a retreat session during which he will address on counter-terrorism issue.
Furthermore, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn will brief the meeting on the preparation for the 13th ASEM Summit which will be held in Cambodia in 2020.
On the sidelines of the meeting, H.E. Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn will hold separate bilateral meetings with some Foreign Ministers and dignitaries of ASEM member countries.
ASEM is a platform for cooperation between countries in Asia and Europe with main focus on three pillars, including political, economic and cultural pillars. Cambodia became a member of ASEM on Oct. 8, 2014. Cambodia will host the 13th ASEM Summit in 2020 which will be another historic event for Cambodia as well as demonstrate Cambodia's active and constructive roles within ASEM framework.
