H.E. Prach Chan Elected New President of National Election Committee

Cambodian lawmakers gave a vote of confidence to H.E. Prach Chan as new President of the National Election Committee (NEC), at the National Assembly's 6th session of the 6th legislature held here this morning under the chairmanship of its President Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin.

Eighty-two (82) lawmakers present at the NA's session voted for the candidacy of H.E. Prach Chan in replacement of H.E. Sik Bun Hok who resigned from the post early this month due to health problem.

H.E. Prach Chan was a member of NA for Thbong Khmum constituency. From 1991 to 2001, he was a senior official at the Ministry of Interior; after that he became the governor of Battambang province, and the governor of Thbong Khmum province.

Cambodia is preparing for the 5th Commune/Sangkat Council Election to be held on Sunday, June 5, 2022.
