H.E. Lt. Gen. Hun Manet, Deputy Chief of Joint Staff of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and Deputy Commander of Royal Cambodian Army, has held separate meetings with Singaporean Prime Minister H.E. Lee Hsien Loong, and Singapore's Minister of National Defence Dr. Ng Eng Hen.
The meeting took place yesterday as part of H.E. Lt. Gen. Hun Manet's working trip to Singapore under the Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship.
In the meeting, the Singaporean leaders spoke highly of Cambodia's rapid development under the leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.
H.E. Lee Hsien Loong was positive that Cambodia will maintain its peace, political stability and development.
In his response, H.E. Gen. Hun Manet underlined that Singapore is a good friend and trading partner of Cambodia and that he looks forward to enhanced bilateral collaboration, including the area of national security and defence.
He also thanked the Government of Singapore for its contribution to Cambodia's development in all areas, particularly human resources training.
According to a press statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, as the 64th Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellow, H.E. Lt. Gen. Hun Manet will meet many other Singapore leaders, including Mr. Eddie Teo, Chairman of the Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship.
Besides, it added, he will receive briefings by Singapore agencies such as the Public Service Division, the Committee on the Future Economy and the Institute of Technical Education.
These exchanges help to foster dialogue and deepen understanding between Cambodia and Singapore, and further strengthen their bilateral relationship, it underlined.
Lee Kuan Yew Exchange Fellowship, established in 1991, is a programme that invites outstanding individuals for high-level visit to Singapore. The Fellows are chosen on the basis of their proven track records or extraordinary potential to contribute to the development of nations and to promote international understanding and goodwill.
