H.E. Khieu Kanharith Urges Comprehension of Election Laws Among Journalists

Minister of Information H.E. Khieu Kanharith has urged both the national and foreign reporters to comprehend election laws and abide by journalism ethics.

H.E. Khieu Kanharith brought this to attention of many, especially those in the field of journalism, recently on his facebook page after the news on the allegation of two journalists against violating the confidentiality of residents in Rattanakiri.

Reportedly, the two journalists were indicated to be from an English newspaper known as The Cambodia Daily. They were alleged of questioning people in the province about confidential information about their voting.

H.E. Khieu Kanharith called for all journalists to have the knowledge on the election laws so as to avoid any wrongdoing as well as possible allegations.

Media in Cambodia is paying close attention to the ongoing 14-day campaign for the fourth Commune/Sangkat Council Election running until June 2 partaken by twelve political parties; and about 7.8 million of Cambodians have registered for the voting.
