Government’s Effort in Promoting Gender in Cambodia

The Royal Government of Cambodia is working hard in promoting the gender equality cross-cutting all sectors.
The remark was made by H.E. Ms. Mom Thany, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Environment in a launching ceremony of “Gender Mainstreaming Strategic Plan in Environmental Sector 2021-2025” here in Phnom Penh on Wednesday.
According to H.E. Ms. Mom Thany, the strategic plan mainstreamed gender vision in policies, strategies and action plans for ministries, so will contribute essentially to achieving Cambodia’s sustainable development.
The document also underlined gender aspect in environmental management so as to increase women’s role in the field, especially in entrepreneurship at local community for good governance and inclusive economic growth.
To achieve gender equity and Cambodia’s outlook 2050, continued endeavour to empower women and girls in society is a must, she added.
H.E. Ms. Sivann Botum, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Women’s Affairs, echoed the fact and highlighted the ministry’s effort in cooperation with ministries and institutions in enhancement of gender equality, women empowerment, right to protection, violence elimination, sexual abuse prevention and beyond.
