Government Suspends New Recruitment of Civil Servants for 2022

The Royal Government of Cambodia will suspend the new recruitment of all ministries and institutions, including that of teachers and armed forces for 2022.

The suspension was notified in a letter dated Aug. 17 of H.E. Aun Pornmoniroth, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Finance, to H.E. Prum Sokha, Minister of Civil Service.

H.E. Aun Pornmoniroth explained the government’s decision by the protracted COVID-19 crisis, especially the Feb. 20 community outbreak

The new recruitment at sub-national administrations will also be postponed, added the letter.

But, it underlined, new recruitment by the Ministry of Health is an exception.

At a virtual parliamentary workshop yesterday, H.E. Aun Pornmoniroth said that in the fight against COVID-19, the government has disbursed about US$719 million in interventions to protect the people's lives, stabilise their livelihoods and support business activities. Due to the Feb. 20 incident, he added, the COVID-19 intervention budget could reach US$1,454 million.
