Government Spends More Than 700 Billion Riel Before Khmer New Year

The Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) has spent some 700 billion Riel or approximately US$200 million for the public spending before the Khmer Traditional New Year.

This amount of expenditure was revealed by Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen at a graduation ceremony of the National University of Management in Phnom Penh this morning.

This budget was used to increase the salary of the civil servants, armed forces, and to provide them with their April's salary before the Khmer New Year as well as 50,000 Riel (US$12.5) as incentive on the occasion of the New Year, he underlined.

In addition, Samdech Techo Hun Sen reaffirmed the stability of the national currency despite large amount of Riel was released into the market.
