Government Regards the Call by Convicted Rebel as Political Sabotage

The Royal Government Spokesperson Unit has issued a statement considering the comments made by a certain convicted rebel overseas as an act of incitement and political sabotage.

The full statement issued yesterday reads as follows:

The Royal Government Spokesperson Unit (GSU) has an obligation to monitor the flow of information to contribute to maintaining security and public order in the interest of the people as a whole who have been enjoying living in a peaceful manner, and the continued development under the great leadership and ingenuity of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia. So any reports by some media outlets about the comments made by a certain convicted rebel overseas cannot be accepted by the Royal Government of Cambodia, given the Government was elected by the political will of the Cambodian voters and more than 83 percent of the total voters whose political decision was to choose peace, stability, and prosperity.

The Spokesperson Unit views that any call by the said convict is regarded as an act of incitement and is showing the political weakness of the rebel convict and he seeks to use the blood and lives of the Cambodian people as a stepping stone for him to secure his return to the country. Such acts of this convict shows his political impotence and he has turned to use poisonous rhetoric and brutal terms instead, prompting the competent authorities to be on alert, at any cost, to prevent any activities of the said rebel convict from destroying the peaceful atmosphere and social development of Cambodia and her people.

The Spokesperson Unit also views such rhetoric of the convict as political sabotage by using the image of the people to cover his bad deed so as to secure his own ambition which will undermine the interest of the people and destroy the peoples' political will. These actions require the concerned authorities at all levels to prevent any activities of the rebel convict from taking place.

The Spokesperson Unit, on this occasion, would like to express its thankfulness to the voters who cast their ballots in favour of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), chaired by Samdech Techo Prime Minister Hun Sen, which achieved a landslide victory so that the Premier can continue to lead the Kingdom of Cambodia to greater development in all fields, along with presenting the positive image of the Kingdom on the international stage. Th continued progress and peace prove that Cambodia has transformed itself from being a poor nation to a country which now enjoys full peace, prosperity, and also contributes to protecting peace in the region and the world as a whole. The Royal Government, in this respect, is strongly committed to protect the political will of the people who chose peace, stability, and prosperity.
