The 2nd joint military drill between the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) and Chinese People's Army (PLA) dubbed Golden Dragon 2018 conducted since Mar. 17 at a mountainous area in Kampong Speu province, was wrapped up yesterday.
The closing ceremony was presided over by Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh, visiting Lieutenant General Zhou Songhe, Deputy Commander of the PLA Army, and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Xiong Bo.
This live-fire exercise is a part of the celebration of the 60 years of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and China.
From Mar. 17-29, 307 Cambodian military personnel and 216 of their Chinese counterparts joined the drill with a main focus on combating terrorism, plus infrastructure repairs, mine and UXO clearance, and emergency response to natural disasters.
Addressing to the event, Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh expressed his profound thanks to China for its assistance to Cambodia, especially to the military sector such as training, logistics and equipment support, and other cooperation.
The first Golden Dragon military drill was conducted in December 2016, focusing on humanitarian rescue and disaster relief.
