Germany Contributes Actively to Cambodia’s Mine Clearance Activities

Germany has contributed actively to mine clearance activities in Cambodia, according to local media report.

The remark was underlined by Senior Minister H.E. Ly Thuch, First Vice President of Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA) when inspecting the Halo Trust’s de-mining operation with H.E. Christian Berger, German Ambassador to Cambodia on Mar. 17 at Oddar Meanchey province.

H.E. Ly Thuch continued that since 2016, Germany has granted 7.25 million Euro to Halo Trust for its de-mining operation in the country, including 2.5 million Euro for 2020.

Through the assistance of Germany, Halo Trust so far has cleared landmines from 12 square kilometres of land surface.

The agency has also destroyed some 3,421 anti-personnel mines, 127 anti-tank mines, and 3,506 unexplored ordinances, he added.
