Ministers of Tourism and Environment have defined framework to promote eco-tourism in Cambodia.
This was the spirit of a recent discussion meeting between senior delegations of the two ministries here in Phnom Penh.
H.E. Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, was positive that with proper legal framework to manage it, ecotourism will be a lucrative service in Cambodia, as there are many attractive locations in the country for the business.
While the Ministry of Environment has a preservation role of ecotourism sites, added the minister, the Ministry of Tourism serves as an agency to attract visitors to the places.
Minister of Environment H.E. Say Samal expressed his strong support to the commitment which will begin with a draft legal framework by the two ministries for the review and approval of the cabinet of ministers.
Some 50 ecotourism areas are currently active in Cambodia some of them are being managed by the government and some others by the communities themselves.
