Former Korean NA Speaker Pledges to Help Boost Relations with Cambodia

Visiting H.E. Park Byeong Seug, former Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, has pledged to continue boosting the bilateral relations between the two countries and seeking support for Cambodia’s mine clearance sector.

He made the commitment when he was received here at the Peace Palace this afternoon by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, according to H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Personal Assistant to the Premier.

H.E. Park Byeong Seug also affirmed to encourage more Korean investors to invest directly in Cambodia or through the Plus One investment concept because the Kingdom has many favourable conditions such as energetic and high quality youth, use of U.S. dollar, investment protection agreement with Korea, and free trade agreements, among others.

In reply, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked H.E. Park Byeong Seug for the congratulations and spoken highly of his efforts in making a reality three tasks proposed by the Premier – the entry into force of the Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement (on Dec. 1, 2022), the funding of the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge whose financing agreement has already been signed, and the increase by 40 percent of quota for Cambodian migrant workers in Korea.
