Foreigners in Cambodia Banned with Ten Self-Employed Services

The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training has issued a notification to ban foreigners staying in Cambodia from running ten types of self-employed services.

Signed on August 28 by Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, the notification comes into force from the signing date onward.

The banned self-employed careers include tuk-tuk and truck driver; street vendors; massage therapis; barber, hair-dresser and beauty salon; shoes fixer and shiner; tailor; car repairer; Cambodia souvenir maker; craft of Cambodia musical instrument and Buddha statue and alms bowl; and goldsmith and jewellery maker.

Grounding on the statement, the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training will not issue or renew the workbook for any foreigners with the listed occupations.

Any foreigner engaging in the mentioned self-employed careers, underlined the notification, will be penalised accordingly.

Some foreigners who are found working in Cambodia were Vietnamese, Filipino, Chinese, western people etc.
