Flocks of Bats at Sampov Mountain Becomes Increasingly Popular

Flocks of bats flying back and forth from Sampov Mountain � a tourist attraction in Battambang province � has been increasingly popular especially among international tourists, according to local media report.

The source cited the Head of Battambang Provincial Department of Tourism Mr. Uch Oumphinisara explaining that an average of 40 international and 30 domestic tourists come to see the flocks of bats which he considers as an increasing popular tourism product.

Every day, he added, four flocks of bats leaving Sampov Mountain at around 5 or 6 o'clock in the evening to hunt for food at two directions � Tonle Sap Lake and the sea. They return to Sampov Mountain at 4 o'clock in the morning of the next day.

Seeing the rising popularity of the visitors to see the flocks of bats, the Provincial Department of Tourism has facilitated seats, transports as well as other services for them.

Flocks of bats and the Sampov Mountain are not the only attraction sites of Battambang province located in the north-west of Cambodia.

The province possesses a wide range of cultural and historical sites, including some 800 preserved buildings from the colonial time in the 1860s.
