Flight and Passenger Handling Capacity of Cambodia Airports on its Way

Airports in Cambodia are expanding capacity and runways to handle more aircrafts as well as to allow long-haul flights.

The intention was shared recently in a post by Press and Quick Reaction Unit of the Office of the Council of Ministers.

It added that the improvement plan was discussed in a meeting at the Council of Ministers, and Cambodia Airports that manage the three international airports in the country will lead the work.

The airport capacity expansions will ease the landing of airplanes of world leaders who will attend the Asia-Europe Summit and the ASEAN Summit to be hosted by Cambodia in 2020 and 2022 respectively.

It will also allow Cambodia to handle more tourists flying to Cambodia.

According to the figure from Cambodia Airports, the country's three international airports Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville International Airports handle 636 regular and charter flights per week.

The airports have received about 10 million passengers in 2018 and 8.8 million in 2017.
