Thousands of international tourists came to enjoy the first day of the annual Water Festival in Phnom Penh, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
On the pavilion arranged by the Ministry of Tourism, there were more than 3,000 foreign visitors happily watching boat races and "Loy Pratip" - the display of decorative lighted boats - on the first day of Water Festival said the ministry.
Most of them are from France, the UK, Poland, Russia, Spain, Germany, the U.S., China, South Korea, Japan, India, Vietnam and some from the Middle East.
The Ministry of Tourism has erected a pavilion north of the honorary pavilion in front of the Royal Palace for foreign visitors to spectate boat races. Visitors are provided with beverage service, direct translation service, and headsets in three languages - English, French and Chinese.
Beside boat races, many other foreign visitors flocked to enjoy other related events in Phnom Penh, especially along the Tonle Sap River.
