Senior Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance H.E. Aun Pornmoniroth has received Mr. Nigel Brett, Executive Director for Asia and Pacific of the International Fund for Agriculture Development (IFAD).
In the meeting taking place here in Phnom Penh on Tuesday, Mr. Nigel Brett spoke highly of Cambodia that carried out successfully IFAD-funded projects.
With that achievement, he continued, IFAD has decided to provide US$64 million more to promote Cambodia's agricultural development.
Of the total amount, US$52 million will be used for a new project to promote agricultural market and rural and agricultural infrastructure construction 2019-2021, and the rest US$12 million goes to existing projects supported by IFAD.
He added that IFAD will continue to work closely with Cambodia to prepare new financing cooperation strategic framework for 2021-2026.
From his end, H.E. Aun Pornmoniroth congratulated Mr. Nigel Brett for his new role, and profoundly thanked IFAD for contributing to Cambodia's growth, especially in the field of agriculture and rural development.
He emphasised that the future IFAD's assistance will not only promote the agricultural development of Cambodia, but also reduce rural poverty.
