“It’s really exciting,” Madison said. “It’s awesome playing with her and I’m glad I got two years to play with her (including) this year.”
On Saturday, the Maguires took advantage of that opportunity and created a moment that they wont soon forget.
With Rumson-Fair Haven playing out a penalty corner after time expired in a tie game, senior Madison Maguire took a shot that found the pads of Shore‘s goalie. The rebound fell to her Makenna, a sophomore, whose shot rolled into the bottom-left corner and won the game.
“Getting that assist and goal, they’re things we’re looking for this whole season,” Makenna said. “For us to connect like that is awesome as sisters.”
Considering what she’s seen the sisters do together in the past, Rumson-Fair Haven head coach Julie Brewington wasn’t surprised to see them team up to find the back of the cage in such a big moment.
“You can see they read each other so well, they know where they’re each other are going to be,” Brewington said. “It’s so helpful for us to have them working together like that.”
