AKP Phnom Penh, Visiting Executive Director of UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has recognised development in all sectors of Cambodia along with peace, stability and security.
Dr. Erik Solheim made the remarks at a press conference organised at the Ministry of Environment in Phnom Penh on June 25, according to the ministry's news release.
The UNEP executive director spoke highly of Cambodia's participation in all UN agreements, principles and initiatives.
Regarding the environment sector, Dr. Solheim is interested in solid waste management, especially plastic waste by encouraging people to use the 3R principle (reduce, reuse and recycle).
The two-day (June 25-26) visit of Dr. Erik Solheim in Cambodia reflects the UN's full support to the achievements of the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC), underlined the Ministry of Environment in the news release.
