The European Union pays much attention to the upcoming fourth mandate Commune/Sangkat Council Election, while Cambodia welcomes efforts contributing to transparent and free race.
The mentioned spirit was reiterated in a recent meeting between the President of Cambodian Human Rights Committee (CHRC) H.E. Keo Remy and a delegate of the European Union Election Expert Mission Ms. Renata Tardioli at CHRC office here in Phnom Penh.
According to H.E. Keo Remy, it is likely that the European Union will bring in observers for the local election; and the Royal Government of Cambodia as well as the CHRC welcomes the effort.
The European Union Election Expert Mission delegation, added H.E. Keo Remy, learned about the CHRC role and the mechanism for the complaints to be filed to the body.
CHRC president continued that the visiting EU delegate also expressed her appreciation of good performance and cooperation of the National Election Committee (NEC).
Cambodia is expecting a five-year-term Commune/Sangkat Council Election on June 4, 2017 � followed by a national election in 2018.
