EU Acknowledges Cambodia’s Efforts in Agricultural Development
H.E. George Edgar, EU Ambassador to Cambodia, has acknowledged the efforts of the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) in boosting the agricultural development, an official of MAFF told local media.
In a recent meeting with Cambodian Minister of MAFF H.E. Ouk Rabun, added the official, the EU diplomat also spoke highly of the relations and cooperation between EU and MAFF and the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC).
H.E. George Edgar appreciated the ministry’s endeavors in elaborating the Agricultural Sector Strategic Development Plan (ASDP) 2014-2018 launched here recently as well as the success in carrying out the program to sustainability promote the agricultural sector, fisheries products and livestock production.
The EU ambassador affirmed the continuation of preparation of Cambodia Program for Fisheries (CAP Fish), and encouraged Cambodia to further boost the production and export of agricultural products to the EU market.
In reply, H.E. Ouk Rabun lauded the good cooperation from EU and underlined the MAFF’s efforts in improving and enforcing the application of sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) measures as well as in ensuring public health.
Concerns about illegal fishing, forestry infractions, hydropower construction and land dispute were also mentioned in the meeting.
