Representatives of the Ministry of Environment and relevant parties have gathered in a meeting to examine and give comments on the Environmental and Social Impacts Assessment (ESIA) on the proposed establishment of a copper, lead, zinc and sulfuric acid plant in Preah Sihanouk province.
Secretary of State for Environment H.E. Sabu Ozano chairs the inter-ministerial meeting here yesterday.
According to the ESIA report submitted to the ministry, the proposed plant is located on an area of 7.48 hectares in Preah Sihanouk Special Economic Zone.
The discussion focused on some key points including raw material import and storage management, water use plan, air quality management, waste management, production chains, and occupational safety and health.
After the discussion, the meeting ordered the revision of the ESIA report within 30 days.
