Religions have played a crucial role in discouraging human trafficking in the region and global, said Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng.
The Deputy Prime Minister underlined the point when presiding over the 3rd Cambodia National Interfaith Forum themed Combating Human Trafficking here in Phnom Penh yesterday.
All religions have good intention and try to educate and guide their followers toward what is good and desirable for the society, added Samdech Sar Kheng.
Human trafficking, he continued, is considered as a form of slavery and engages various criminal acts such as sex trafficking, labour exploitation, and beyond, harming the dignity of the victims now and in the future.
Samdech Sar Kheng also took the opportunity to call for a joint effort in eliminating human trafficking.
