Domestic Tourists Recorded at Over 500,000 Last Week
The number of domestic tourists reached 554,062 last week, from Nov. 28 to Dec. 4, of them 515,409 were national visitors and 38,653 were domestic foreign tourists, an increase by 49.98 percent compared to the previous week.
The figures were shared by the Ministry of Tourism in a report released this morning, pointing to a positive sign for Cambodian tourism recovery.
Kampong Chhnang province was the most visited destination during the said period, followed by the provinces of Preah Sihanouk and Siem Reap and Phnom Penh capital city.
The Ministry of Tourism attributed the growing number of domestic visitors to the organisation of water festival in Kampong Chhnang province and the Angkor Wat International Half Marathon in Siem Reap province.
During the first 11 months of this year, Cambodia registered more than 10 million internal tourists and this figure would rise to nearly 11 million by the year-end.
