Cambodia and Malaysia have discussed on a joint agreement that will further provide protection particularly to Cambodian women as migrant workers in Malaysia.
H.E. Hou Samith, Women's Affairs Secretary of State represented Cambodian side in the meeting with the Ambassador of Malaysia to Cambodia H.E. Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim taking place yesterday here in Phnom Penh.
It was a technical discussion on a bilateral memorandum of understanding against human trafficking between the two ASEAN nations.
According to the Ministry of Women's Affairs, the agreement is needed to address emerging issues faced by Cambodian women working in Malaysia.
It is also well in line with the ASEAN Declaration against Trafficking in Persons Particularly Women and Children ratified by both Cambodia and Malaysia since 2015.
Following the meeting, the two sides agreed on overall content of the agreement and looked forward to discuss its technical details in another meeting to happen in Malaysia.
