Culture Ministry, Chinese Company to Co-Produce a Historical Film in Cambodia 

Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Art is working with a Chinese Company to produce a series of historical film in the 13th century in Cambodia, said H.E. Hab Touch, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts. 

The historical filming project has been requested by Zhong Fang International Investment Company, H.E. Hab Touch pointed out, adding that it may start next year, after experts from the ministry check and discuss details on the scripts and scenarios.  

With different episodes, the film will showcase the period frome the late 12th century onwards when and after Zhou Daguan, a Chinese diplomat of the Yuan dynasty of China, came to Angkor, he said.

H.E. Hab Touch underlined that it needs to be studied and examined properly to ensure its accuracy with the history of Cambodia.

Regarding this filming project, General Director of Zhong Fang International Investment Company, Mr. Xie Xudong presented the proposal to Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, H.E. Ms. Phoeurng Sackona in Phnom Penh on Tuesday. 

H.E. Minister welcomed the filming project, hoping that it will promote Cambodia, especially in the fields of culture and tourism.

She urged for meetings between the film producer, director and ministry’s experts to make sure that the content is historically accurate.
