Cuban President Congratulates His Majesty the King on Cambodia’s Independence Day

The President of the Republic of Cuba H.E. Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez extended a message of congratulations to His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia on the auspicious occasion of the celebration of the National Independence Day of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

According to a statement from the Embassy of Cuba in Phnom Penh, In his letter, H.E. Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, also First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, ratified the commitment to continue working for the strengthening of relations of friendship and cooperation between both countries.

On his side, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero addressed his congratulations to his Cambodian counterpart, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, to whom he reaffirmed the will to strengthen the ties of friendship and bilateral cooperation.

Likewise, Foreign Minister of Cuba H.E. Bruno Rodríguez informed the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cambodia, H.E. Prak Sokhonn, his greatest wishes for the strengthening of ties between Havana and Phnom Penh.

After more than 60 years of diplomatic relations, Cuba and Cambodia continue to strengthen ties in different areas of cooperation. Cuba offers scholarships to study medicine to young Cambodians. At the multilateral level, La Havana appreciates the historical support for the end of the unjust blockade and other aggressive and interference policies of the United States government against the Cuban Island.

Cambodian people today celebrate the 68th anniversary of national independence from France (Nov. 9, 1953 – Nov. 9, 2021).
