The ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) won all the 13 seats of Bokor Municipal Council, according to the preliminary election result broadcasted by the National Election Committee (NEC) on national news media and all NEC's media platforms.

Four political parties, including CPP, the Cambodian Nationality Party, the Cambodian Youth Party and FUNCIPEC competed in the non-universal election.

The first ever Bokor Municipal Council Election was conducted in Bokor city of Kampot province this morning. The polling station was opened at 7:00 am as scheduled and closed at 7:41 am after the 17 councillors of Sangkat Boeung Touk, Sangkat Prek Thnot, and Sangkat Koh Tauch casted their votes, pointed out NEC in a press release.

The ballot counting process took place immediately after the polling station was closed and it ended at 8:08 am in a just and transparent manner under the observation of political agents, national election observers and journalists, NEC underlined, adding that there was no invalid ballots.

"The election was held smoothly and transparently in an environment of security, safety and good order in the context of COVID-19 spread," said the committee.
