CPP Marks its 70th Founding Anniversary

The ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) today commemorated its 70th Founding Anniversary (June 28, 1951-June 28, 2021).
CPP President Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen sent a message to his compatriots and party members on the auspicious occasion.
In his two-page message in Khmer, Samdech Techo Hun Sen mentioned about major achievements of his party, especially the liberation of the country from the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime 42 years ago.
“Forty-two years ago, after the victory over the genocidal regime of Pol Pot on Jan. 7, 1979, CPP has led the country toward attaining many great achievements in the cause of protecting the people’s revival, preventing the return of the genocidal regime, restoring and reconstructing the country from bare hands, until national reconciliation, creation of new Constitution and establishment of the second Kingdom of Cambodia in 1993, full peace in late 1998 through the Win-Win policy, promotion of democracy and civil liberties, and socio-economic development,” he underlined.
The success of the CPP in the previous elections in accordance with the principles of multi-party liberal democracy, both at the national and sub-national levels, is a clear testament to the people’s strong trust in the party to lead the country in the right path that brings about peace, stability, prosperity and happiness, he added.
On behalf of the Central Committee of the CPP, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his gratitude to his compatriots, both inside and outside the country, for their unwavering support for the party in all circumstances, which provides the party enough possibility to serve the nation and the people.
“In response to this trust, the Party will continue to do everything in its power to defend the national independence and sovereignty; maintain peace, political stability, security, and macroeconomic stability; strengthen democracy; enhance social harmony; and promote economic development for the people’s prosperity,” he said.
Today, he continued, even though there is no large gathering to commemorate the party’s 70th Founding Anniversary as the country has been facing the COVID-19 pandemic, the sacrifice of our ancestors and patriots of all generations will always remain in our hearts. “We, all Cambodians, are determined to turn this spirit into a strong, united action with a single will to continue to build and defend our motherland towards a bright future,” the CPP president stressed.
At the same time, Samdech Techo Hun Sen re-appealed to his compatriots to strictly follow the instructions of the Royal Government, the Ministry of Health and authorities at all levels on measures to contain and prevent the COVID-19 spread.
