The current cluster infections of COVID-19 known as the Feb. 20 Community Event claimed another life today, bringing the death toll in Cambodia to 13.
The new fatal case is a Cambodian young woman of 28 years old living in Khan Russey Keo, Phnom Penh, said a press release of the Ministry of Health issued this evening, adding that she was tested positive for the deadly virus on Mar. 30 and was admitted to the Khmer-Soviet Friendship Hospital on the same day. She had Type 1 diabetes and end-stage renal disease.
She passed away this afternoon, at 14:40 due to severe acute respiratory crisis and severe pneumonia infected by COVID-19, it added.
The Ministry of Health expressed its deepest sorrow and heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
This morning, COVID-19 killed a 56-year-old Cambodian woman living in Sangkat Veal Vong, Khan 7 Makara, Phnom Penh.
The first coronavirus-related death in Cambodia was reported on Mar. 11, 2021.
Threat of COVID-19 is recurring in Cambodia following the outbreak of the Feb. 20 Community Event.
As of this morning, Cambodia’s total confirmed cases of COVID-19 were recorded at 2,440, of which 1,914 are connected to the Feb. 20 incident. A total of 1,191 patients have so far recovered successfully.
