Construction of Thailand-funded Institute of Technology in Kampong Speu Province Begins

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and visiting Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand presided over this morning the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Kampong Speu Institute of Technology in Kampong Speu province.

Located in O' Angkum village, Omlaing commune, Thpong district, the institute will be built under the financial support of H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn and the construction is expected to finish by 2018.

This higher education institute will offer training for associate's and bachelor's degree programmes on civil, electrical, electronic, mechanical, and food engineering, IT, business, hotel management and tourism, accounting, and so on.

Speaking on the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said this institute will contribute significantly to the human resource training in Cambodia. "It will promote the education sector in Cambodia and the relationship between Cambodia and Thailand," he underlined.

The institute will attract students not only from Kampong Speu, but also from surrounding provinces such as Preah Sihanouk, Kandal, Takeo and Kampong Chhnang, he added.
