The National Election Committee (NEC) has received a total of 71 complaints after the Commune/Sangkat Council Election on Sunday June 4, 2017.
According to NEC's press release dated yesterday, the complaints filed from the election day to 7:00 am of June 6, are related to vote recount and election law breach.
Among the 28 complaints for vote recount, 18 are from the ruling Cambodian People's Party and 10 from the main opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party, it pointed out.
The two political parties asked NEC to recount the votes in 47 polling stations, 15 of which are in Battambang province, 12 in Phnom Penh capital, 8 in Stung Treng province, 7 in Kampong Thom province, 2 in Koh Kong province, 2 in Siem Reap province, and one in Takeo province, said the press release.
