Ministry of Commerce is working on the registration of Geographical Indication (GI) for five key products.
The five products are orange, Kampot salt, golden silk, organic rice, and Ambok (pounded rice).
H.E. Seang Thay, Spokesperson at the Ministry of Commerce, said that the GI status will build consumers' confidence of the products and to avoid counterfeit products.
The spokesperson underlined that the ministry is accelerating the GI registration for the five prioritised products within this year.
Cambodian potential products awarded with the GI status include Koh Trung Pomelo in Kratie province, Kampot Pepper in Kampot province and Kampong Speu Palm Sugar in Kampong Speu and Kandal provinces.
