Clean water supplies nationwide saw a year-on-year increase by 7 percent to 331 million cubic metres as of 2019.
According to a report of the Ministry of Industry and Handicraft, some 4.9 million people or equal to 894,718 families had access to clean water last year from state-owned clean water supply authorities and private clean water suppliers.
For clean water production, Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority produced 221 million cubic metres, Siem Reap Water Supply Authority 6.9 million cubic metres, 11 state-owned water supply authorities in other provinces 37 million cubic metres, and 258 private water suppliers 81 million cubic metres.
About 73,830 kilometre-long pipelines have been built to households nationwide up to 2019, the report stated.
As planned, by 2025, all urban areas across the country are set to have access to clean water.
At present, 80 percent of urban areas throughout the country have been connected to clean water system, according to the Ministry of Industry and Handicraft.
