Cambodia has received transport mechanical equipment and capacity building from an investment group of the People's Republic of China.
Official handover ceremony of the provision took place recently here in Phnom Penh under the chairmanship of Minister of Public Works and Transport H.E. Sun Chanthol and the representative of Henan Transport Investment Group from China.
Addressing the national and international guests, H.E. Sun Chanthol expressed his profound thanks to the firm as well as the Government of China for their continuing assistance for the development of Cambodia.
In terms of physical infrastructure alone, according to the minister, about 2,000 kilometres of roads, including major bridges crossing Cambodia's rivers, as well as a number of buildings have been constructed through concessional loans from China.
The handed-over mechanical equipment is comprised of trucks for various construction purposes, cleaner vehicle, and road maintenance materials.
In addition to the hardware provision, the investment group has also trained 20 Cambodian officials about technical road maintenance and beyond.
