China to Provide 3 Million More Doses of COVID-19 Vaccines to Cambodia

China will donate three million more doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Cambodia, Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen told reporters after the signing ceremony of six key documents here at the Peace Palace this evening.

The three million doses will be used as booster doses, underlined Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

According to the Premier, for the 3rd dose or booster dose, Cambodia has already received 2 million doses, and 3 million more will arrive soon as well as the 3 million doses to be donated by China. Therefore, Cambodia only needs to buy 3 more million doses for the 3rd doses of 12 million people.

Cambodia has currently some 29.6 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines from purchases and donations: 7.8 million doses of Sinopharm, 19 million doses of Sinovac, 1,739,000 doses of AstraZeneca, and 1,064,600 doses of Johnson & Johnson.

As of Sept. 11, for the target of 10 million adults, 9,723,224 people have obtained their first jab, or 97.23 percent, among them 8,579,576 have been fully vaccinated.

For the children-youth aged 12 to under 18 years old, 1,706,611 or 86.77 percent of the nearly two-million target have received their first dose, while 864,351 already got the second dose.

Besides, 756,837 booster doses have been administered to frontline officials, senior officials, civil servants, local officials, and people aged 60 years and older as well as officials of UN agencies, foreign embassies and national and international organisations in Cambodia.

If we add all the figures, Cambodia has so far vaccinated about 71.44 percent of the total population of 16 million.
