China has reaffirmed its support to Cambodian economy through purchasing 400,000 tons of its milled rice in 2019, providing some US$600 million from 2019 to 2021, and increasing the number of Chinese tourists to Cambodia to five millions.
The announcement was made by newly appointed Ambassador of China to Cambodia H.E. Wang Wentian while paying a courtesy call on H.E. Mrs. Men Sam An, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspection, at the ministry office yesterday, H.E. Nop Channarin, Under Secretary of State and Spokesperson for the Ministry of National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspection, told reporters after the meeting.
H.E. Ambassador informed H.E. Mrs. Men Sam An of the new developments in Cambodia-China relations as well as of the outcomes of the recent official visit by Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen to China.
He also thanked H.E. Mrs. Men Sam An for her cooperation with the Embassy of China so far, and sought her recommendations for the success of his diplomatic mission in the Kingdom.
The Cambodian DPM expressed support to the ambassador's mission and spoke highly of the relationship between the two countries.
She also thanked the Chinese side for its assistance to Cambodia and reaffirmed the Kingdom's support for the One China Policy and the One Belt, One Road policy.
