China Reaffirms Full Support to National Election Process in Cambodia

The Government of China continues its full support to the July 29 National Election and socio-economic development process in Cambodia.

The position was reaffirmed by visiting H.E. Liu Shaobin, Director General of the Department of External Security Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, while paying a courtesy call on H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in Phnom Penh on May 3, H.E. Chum Sounry, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, told reporters after the meeting.

H.E. Liu Shaobin also expressed the Government of China's irreversible stance to respect the independence and sovereignty of Cambodia as well as the Kingdom's measures to maintain security and stability in the country.

Meanwhile, he underlined the Chinese side's attention to strengthening the ties of friendship and the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between both countries.

H.E. Prak Sokhonn laid stress on the efforts of the Royal Government of Cambodia and relevant authorities in ensuring that the upcoming parliamentary elections will be conducted smoothly in a free, just, fair and democratic manner.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and China.
