The Government of China has, through its Embassy in Cambodia, donated electronic and IT equipment worth more than US$75,000 to the National Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations (NIDIR) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MFA-IC).
The handover ceremony was held under the presidency of Senior Minister and Minister of MFA-IC H.E. Prak Sokhonn and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia H.E. Xiong Bo, in Phnom Penh yesterday.
According to a press release of MFA-IC, the donation is in response to the NIDIR's need in capacity building of professional diplomats in the ICT digital economy and diplomacy, and supports the institute's training activities on communication skill, public speaking and foreign languages.
It is also a witness of China's support to the socio-economic development of Cambodia, mainly in human resource and infrastructure development.
Officially inaugurated in February this year, NIDIR is the first ever diplomat training institution in the history of Cambodia's diplomatic sector. Its establishment is part of the internal reform of MFA-IC in response to the unceasingly evolving and unpredictable foreign policy in the region and the world.
