China Announces a Financing of 200 Million Yuan for Cambodia’s Development

Visiting Chinese Premier H.E. Li Keqiang has announced to provide a financing of 200 million yuan to further contribute to Cambodia’s development.

H.E. Li Keqiang made the announcement during the bilateral meeting here at the Peace Palace this afternoon with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.

The Chinese Premier spoke highly of the deep relations and cooperation between the two countries in all domains, and expressed his delight to see Cambodia’s rapid development.

Anyway, he stressed, China will continue to help Cambodia to see more progress by providing 200 million yuan to further improve the Cambodian people’s living standard and support other areas such as culture, education, mine clearance, health, hosting of SEA Games 2023, bridge and railway construction, and agricultural export.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed warm welcome to H.E. Li Keqiang for paying an official visit and attending the ASEAN-China Summit and Related Summits in Cambodia.

The Cambodian Premier also thanked China for its support in COVID-19 vaccines, leading to Cambodia’s strong herd immunity and resumption of economic activities.

At the same time, Samdech Techo Hun Sen congratulated the Communist Party of China on its great development achievements and wished the Chinese friend to achieve more development, especially the “two centennial goals” in building a modern socialist country.

Following their bilateral talks, the two Premiers witnessed the signing ceremony of 18 bilateral cooperative documents cover the areas of infrastructure construction, transport, agri-trade, health, education, IT and innovation, pepper and fishery export, cultural property protection, climate change, etc.

On the occasion, there was also a symbolic inauguration ceremony of Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville expressway, carbon emission project area in Preah Sihanouk province, and Confucius Institute at the Cambodia University of Technology and Science (CamTech).
