A Chinese delegation led by Mr. Shang Fulin, Member of the Standing Committee and Chairman of the Economic Affairs Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), has been on a visit in Cambodia to exchange views on bilateral cooperation and to study more trade and investment opportunities and potentials.
The delegation was received here yesterday afternoon by H.E. Sok Chenda Sophea, Minister attached to the Prime Minister and Secretary General of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC).
According to the CDC's news release, H.E. Sok Chenda Sophea expressed warm welcome to the delegation and laid stress on the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC)'s support policies to increase trust among all investors, as well as on Cambodia Industrial Development Policy 2015-2025 whose vision is to modernise the country's industrial structure from a labor-intensive industry to a skill-based industry by 2025.
The CDC secretary general also highly valued Chinese investors' contribution to the development of Cambodia, especially in physical infrastructure sector such as electricity production, expressway construction.
For his part, Mr. Shang Fulin lauded Cambodia's rapid progress and spoke highly RGC's achievements, mainly in attracting more and more foreign investments, which has reflected their (investors) trust on the efficient and highly responsible leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen. He also highlighted the good cooperation between Cambodia and China through coordination mechanisms, bilateral dialogue, and exchange of study visits, which have responded positively to the implementation of One Belt One Road initiative.
According to the CDC's figures, by April 2018, the total volume of China's investment in Cambodia was some US$17 billion.
