Cambodia’s Weather Impacts Dropped by Half in First Five Months

AKP Phnom Penh, Weather impacts in Cambodia dropped by 50 percent from January to May 2020, compared to the previous year.

The update was shared recently by the National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM), explaining this means Cambodia’s weather condition during the mentioned period was better this year compared to 2021.

The weather in Cambodia was cooler this year and rainfalls have reduced the risk of water shortage, supplying water to farmers.

Number of storms also dropped leading to less damages to homes as well as other infrastructures.

In the first five months of 2022, Cambodia experience 79 incidents of gusts and strong wind causing severe damages and collapse of 527 homes, and deroofing 1,777 others, it added.

The storms claimed two lives and injured 16 others, while lighting killed 22 people and injured 17 others, and took lives of 53 cattle.
