Cambodia's palm sugar has won a gold medal award from the recent 15th ASEAN Food Conference organised in Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam, according to local media report.
The source quoted Mr. Him Piseth, Vice President of Kampong Speu Palm Sugar Promotion Association sharing the good news.
The success, underlined the vice president, was credited to compliance of the product with various international standards, such as those of European Union, United States, and Japan.
He added that, as scientifically proved, Cambodia's palm sugar contains substances contributing positively to consumer's health.
This stands as the second achievement of the palm sugar, as it used to win similar gold medal back in 2005.
Increasingly, the unique produce of Cambodia has been recognised and wanted in international markets; and the success will further build its profile.
It is positive that around 200 tons of the palm sugar will be exported this year in response to the rising demand.
