Minister of Commerce H.E. Pan Sorasak has led a Cambodian delegation for a trip to the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) in Geneva of Switzerland whose main purpose is to deposit Cambodia's instrument of ratification to become a member of the Geneva Act of the Lisbon Agreement on Appellations of Origin and Geographical Indications.
According to the minister, the membership will enable international protection of Cambodia's products with national origin as well as geographical indication and promote trust of its quality in the markets.
He added that the membership reflects the progress of the vision of the Royal Government of Cambodia in connecting the country with international mechanisms.
On the sidelines of the mission, H.E. Pan Sorasak held a bilateral meeting with WIPO Director General Mr. Francis Gurry and thanked the organisation for its technical assistance in establishing intellectual system in Cambodia.
The minister and his delegation also got briefed about key services of WIPO's general department of economic development, research and creative, and agricultural product promotion unit.
