Cambodia’s First Mekong Irrawaddy Dolphin Calf Recorded for 2021

A new Irrawaddy dolphin calf was spotted in Tbong Kla deep pool at Stung Treng province –according to a news release from the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Cambodia issued yesterday.
The discovery was made by a joint research team between the Fisheries Administration and WWF, when conducting their survey.
In 2020, a total of 9 dolphin calves were recorded, and 13 calves were documented in the 2019 database.
The national and the sub-national administrations have been working hard with development partners, particularly WWF to preserve the Irrawaddy dolphins in the Mekong river.
