Cambodia's Senior Minister H.E. Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport received here yesterday a courtesy call from a Vietnamese delegation led by H.E. Nguyen Nhat, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss strategic cooperation within the transport sector between the Cambodian Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) and the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport, according the MPWT's news release.
The Vietnamese delegation briefed H.E. Sun Chanthol about the technical team's work progress on the MoU on Cooperation Strategy in the Transport Sector (2018-2025) that has been concluded and will be signed by the leaders of the two ministries.
The two sides also discussed infrastructure development priorities related to roads and railways that Cambodia and Vietnam can collaborate on to improve connectivity between the two countries.
H.E. Sun Chanthol asked the Vietnamese delegation to consider the development of the railway between Bavet and Ho Chi Minh City with both countries working to attract private sector investment in developing a railway link from Phnom Penh to Bavet to Ho Chi Minh City.
