Cambodian Top Diplomat Reiterates Cambodia’s Readiness to Train Ukrainian Deminers

Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has expressed Cambodia’s readiness to train Ukrainian deminers, in collaboration with Japan.

The commitment was reaffirmed by the Cambodian top diplomat during his bilateral discussion with H.E. Dmytro Kuleba on Nov. 10, on the sidelines of the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and Related Summits in Phnom Penh.

H.E. Prak Sokhonn also reiterated Cambodia’s positions in principle on the war in Ukraine and hoped that a peaceful solution to end the war would be reached soon so that Ukraine would regain peace, stability and development.
In the meeting, H.E. Prak Sokhonn congratulated Ukraine on the accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) and recalled the fruitful recent phone discussion between Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and H.E. Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, on Nov. 1, 2022.

For his part, H.E. Dmytro Kuleba congratulated H.E. Prak Sokhonn on the success of Cambodia’s Chairmanship of ASEAN and also wished Cambodia success in hosting the 40th and 41st ASEAN Summits and Related Summits.

H.E. Dmytro Kuleba deeply thanked Cambodia for her consistent positions in principle on the war in Ukraine, the generosity in assisting Ukrainian deminers, and Cambodia’s efforts for enabling Ukraine’s accession into the TAC.

In the meeting, the two ministers noted the growth of Cambodia-Ukraine friendly relations, reflected by the recent high-level important meetings, the upcoming mutual appointments of their respective countries’ Ambassadors and the agreement to establish bilateral consultations between the two Foreign Ministries.
