Cambodian Premier Welcomes the First Day of Political Party Registration for July Election

The registration of political parties and their respective candidates for the upcoming National Election began this morning.

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen though his public speech at a graduation ceremony and his official Facebook page this morning expressed welcome to the first day of the two-week-long registration period.

The polling day will remain to be on July 29, 2018 as scheduled, stressed the Premier.

Welcome all political parties that have already registered and thanks all supporters who always vote for the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) to continue leading our nation toward further progress, he said.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen rejected some comments accusing that the newly-established political parties are the CPP's puppets. Meanwhile, he reiterated that the dissolved Cambodia National Rescue Party will not be able to come back (to life).

According to the Ministry of Interior, there are in total 37 political parties officially registered at the ministry, without counting the Khmer Will Party, a new political party founded by Mr. Kong Monika, the youngest son of H.E. Kong Korm, Former President of the Sam Rainsy Party.

In order to compete in the July 29, 2018 National Election, each political parties have to register itself and its respective candidates at the National Election Committee and the registration period will last until May 14.
