Cambodia's Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen held talks yesterday afternoon with H.E. Ms. Doris Leuthard, President of the Swiss Confederation, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2017 in Davos-Kloster, Switzerland.
According to his official Facebook page, the Cambodian premier expressed thanks to the Government of Switzerland for its support to Cambodia's health sector, mainly to Kantha Bopha Children's Hospitals, mine clearance, and Khmer Rouge Tribunal.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen requested the Swiss side to continue its assistance to Cambodian human resource training, to expand the two-way trade from the current US$30 million, to push for the Free Trade Agreement between both countries by pointing out that the EU, the U.S., China, South Korea are the major markets worth in total US$12 billion for Cambodia.
Besides, Samdech Techo Hun Sen congratulated Switzerland as an ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partner and took this opportunity on behalf of His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni to invite H.E. Ms. Doris Leuthard to pay a visit to Cambodia, and asked her to encourage Swiss businessmen to attend the WEF on ASEAN to be held in Cambodia in May this year.
For her part, H.E. Ms. Doris Leuthard recognised the Royal Government of Cambodia's commitment for the operation of Kantha Bopha Children's hospitals and highlighted the Swiss assistance to these hospitals and the maternal healthcare in Cambodia.
The Swiss president also pledged to persuade more Swiss tourists to Cambodia and continue to support the projects to strengthen food security in the Kingdom as well as to enhance the capacity of the Cambodian legislative body at its request.
