Cambodian PM Initiates a New Campaign in November

Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has called on all citizens, especially all supporters of the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) to support Ambok (Cambodia's traditional rice flakes) eating campaign in November.

I appeal to all supporters of the Royal Government and CPP to conduct Ambok eating campaign across the country, said the Premier while presiding over here this morning the graduation ceremony of more than 1,000 students of BELTEI International University.

According to Samdech Techo Hun Sen, this campaign will be held from Nov. 9 to 12, 2019 when the country will celebrate the Independence Day (Nov. 9) and the Water Festival (Nov. 10-12). This is a campaign to promote the defence of the nation, religion and the King.

Samdech Techo Prime Minister took this occasion to warn people of some possible illegal acts against the Royal Government and the rule of law during these upcoming events, stressing that all these illegal acts will be strictly punished by the law.

Ork Ambok, along with Sampeas Preah Khe (Salutation of the moon), is a major event of the annual Water Festival. It is the offering of Ambok, coconut and banana to the moon.

To make Ambok, new harvest of paddy rice is fried in the husk and then pounded with a big pestle. The husks are removed, then the rest is Ambok. Cambodian people generally eat Ambok with coconut juice or banana.
